Bexley Sports Hits Post Season

Bexley swimming and diving saw the boys finish five in the Mid-State League and 31st at districts.  the girls tied for third in the leage and earned a 17th place at districts.  According to This Week News, key returnees are John Niermeyer and Jack Zwick, Libby Brown, Lili Harding, Ailbhe McCann, Annie Politi, Frieda Liu and Rayne Wilson.

Bexley Lion wrestlers will participate Friday, March 3 in the district tournament at Heath High School:  Avery Abel, Carter Brenner, Jake Brigdon, Jon Clark, Eliot Clark, Eric Crane, Ethan Gammage, Jalen Hatton, Hunter Hilgeman, Ismail Jallaq, Wade Lewis, William Musick, Andres Perez, Grant Robinson, Perrin Ruff, Reece Wilson, Ryan Woyak and Meghan Dempsey.  The next level of competition is the state Division II tournament, to be held March 9 - 10, 2017. Jon Clark took fourth place and Eliot Clark took first place at the St. Charles wrestling tournament. The team placed fourth out of 13 teams at the Whitehall Sectional Tournament.

The boys' basketball team has made a turnaround on the court since they began February with a record of 6 - 10.  The team won its final five MSL-Ohio contests, including victories over Grandview (42-35 on February 14) and Columbus Academy (53-48 on February 17).  The Lions are seeded 16th for the Division II district tournament; they open Monday, February 27 at 12th-seeded Watterson.  The winner of that contest plays at ninth-seeded Jonathan Alder, in the second round on March 4.

The girls basketball team won its final two regular-season games before defeating Linden-McKinley in the Division II district tournament February 20. The Lions were bested by fourth-seeded Lakewood in a second-round game February 22.
